Volunteering
ABCA volunteers work closely with one incarcerated artist or writer to support their work in finding its audience. Volunteers receive support from ABCA in publishing the artist’s work, mounting exhibitions, and archiving the artists’ work. This is not a mentorship position. We prioritize volunteers who have a community art or curation practice.
If you're interested in volunteering with ABCA, please email us at abcaworkshop@paroleprepny.org. We will reach out to you as volunteer opportunities become available.
We are not currently seeking workshop leaders or facilitators.
Artist Referral
If you know of an NYS prison-based artist who would be interested in doing a 8-10 month, self-directed program in collaboration with an ABCA volunteer, please email us their name and DIN at abcaworkshop@paroleprepny.org. We will notify them to let them know they’ve been added to our waitlist, and will send a copy of our resource book, Publications Accepting Submissions from Incarcerated People.
